Shortbread

Shortbread is a biscuit (cookie) made with lots of lovely butter and sugar and tastes delicious. Home bakers will find it very easy to make – the simplest recipes have only three ingredients. As the mix does not rise, you can make it in all shapes. Traditional wooden molds with thistles and such can be found, or just use cookie cutters and your imagination.

Walker’s distribute their excellent Scottish shortbread through the major US grocery chains so you should be able to find some at your local supermarket. Every Walker’s shape has a slightly different recipe, texture and taste so it is worthwhile getting one of their large selections online before a family get together.
